Rockstar’s GTA 6 Map Leak Just Revealed Two New Leonida Islands

Rockstar Games briefly exposed more of Grand Theft Auto VI’s Leonida than it apparently intended, and the accidental glimpse is already giving map watchers a new set of clues to chase. A promotional image for the $399.99 GTA VI: The Goodtime State – Vice City Collection initially showed location names on the map poster included in the box, before Rockstar quietly replaced the image with a version that hides them.

The moment matters because it is not just another anonymous leak or recycled screenshot. The map is tied to a real Rockstar Store product, and the merchandise reveal gives fans a rare look at how Rockstar is presenting the fictional state of Leonida outside the game itself. That makes the edit more interesting than the usual rumor: the image was official, even if the interpretation of the geography remains uncertain.

According to reports from Notebookcheck and Dexerto, the first version of the poster showed a cluster of offshore islands on the left side of the map. Four shapes were visible, but only two names could be read clearly: Sandbars and Crude Islands. Other labels appeared partially obscured or too blurry to identify with confidence. Rockstar then updated the listing, removing the name tags while leaving the outlines of the islands in place.

That timing has naturally turned a product photo into a miniature detective story. Fans had enough time to capture the original image, so the cleanup did not erase the information. Instead, it created a new question: were the names removed because they reveal genuine locations Rockstar wants to save for a later marketing beat, or because the first image was simply an unfinished asset?

What the map can — and cannot — prove

The safest reading is that the image confirms Rockstar is using a detailed Leonida map for its collector merchandise. It does not confirm that every island outline or printed label represents the final playable world. The map’s illustrated style differs from community reconstructions based on trailers, screenshots, and the older Cyberleak material, and fans have already noticed mismatches between the shapes.

That caveat is important. A souvenir poster can simplify coastlines for readability, rearrange labels for visual balance, or reflect a version of the map that changed during development. Even so, the appearance of named island groups is useful because it expands the vocabulary surrounding GTA 6’s setting. “Sandbars” and “Crude Islands” sound less like generic placeholder art and more like the kind of memorable, sharply satirical location names Rockstar uses to make its worlds feel lived in.

$399.99: the Vice City Collection costs more than the game and does not include it.

The price is part of the story too. Rockstar’s Vice City Collection contains 11 themed items, including a Macca the Gator figure, Oakley sunglasses, a New Era cap, a Leonida Keys crossbody bag, pins, stickers, barware, and the double-sided poster. The actual GTA 6 purchase is separate, meaning the box is aimed squarely at collectors who want physical pieces of Leonida before they can explore it themselves.

That positioning may explain why the map has attracted so much attention. The poster is not only merchandise; it is one of the few tangible representations of the full state that fans can study before launch. Every island, road, and odd place name becomes a potential hint, even when Rockstar has not said that it is a gameplay reveal.

For now, Sandbars and Crude Islands belong in the “officially glimpsed, not fully explained” category. Rockstar’s fast edit suggests the company noticed the community’s scrutiny, but the remaining silhouettes may be just as valuable as the deleted text. If future trailers visit those waters, this week’s accidental map exposure could become one of the earliest breadcrumbs in the road trip across Leonida.
