If you thought Los Santos was big, get ready to have your mind blown. New data from the GTA VI Community Mapping Project—a colossal fan effort mapping the game based on leaks and trailers—has revealed a massive update showing just how gargantuan the state of Leonida will be.
Double the Size (or More!)
According to the latest community measurements, the Grand Theft Auto VI map will have at least 2.5 times more playable land area than the GTA V map. While Los Santos and Blaine County already felt vast in 2013, the new version of Vice City and its surroundings promise a scale unprecedented in Rockstar Games' history.
What’s New on the Map?
The April 2026 update of the mapping project brought details that were previously just blurs. Now, we can clearly see:
•Vice City: The main metropolis, much denser and more vertical than any previous city.
•Rural Areas and Swamps: Areas inspired by the Florida Everglades, with extremely detailed flora and fauna.
•Satellite Cities: In addition to Vice City, the map features several smaller towns and villages, each with its own atmosphere.
•Infrastructure: Complex highways, international airports, and a network of canals that make boat navigation essential.
Quality over Quantity?
Despite the impressive size, Rockstar seems to be focusing on density. Rumors indicate that the number of accessible interiors (buildings you can enter) will be the highest of any open-world game ever made. This means the map isn't just "big," but "deep." Every alley and every shop in Leonida will have a purpose.
Fan Reaction
The community is in ecstasy, but there are also concerns. Some players wonder if the map will be "too big," making travel tedious. However, most agree that with PS5 and Xbox Series X technology, exploration will be smoother than ever.
