GTA 6: Price and Release Window Confirmed – Fans Are Divided!

The mystery surrounding one of the most anticipated games in history has just received official updates. Strauss Zelnick, CEO of Take-Two Interactive (Rockstar Games' parent company), has finally spoken out about how much we’ll have to shell out to get our hands on Grand Theft Auto VI. As expected, the news has sparked a heated debate.

How much will it cost?

Zelnick confirmed that GTA 6 is expected to follow the new industry standard for high-budget "AAA" titles, with the price ranging between $70 and $80. The executive defended the price tag, stating that the game will deliver far more entertainment and hours of content than the price suggests, even calling the value "very, very low" considering the massive scale of the project.

Release Window and In-game Ads
Another crucial point was the confirmation of the release window. Take-Two reiterated in its financial reports that the game remains on track to hit the market in Fall 2025 (between September and December). Furthermore, to the relief of many, Zelnick ruled out the presence of "interstitial" ads (advertisements that interrupt gameplay), stating it would be unfair to charge a premium price and still force ads on the player.

The Community Reaction
Naturally, the internet exploded. On Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), opinions are polarized:

• The Supporters: Many argue that, considering inflation and the fact that games like Zelda II cost $50 back in 1986 (which would be about $150 today), $70-$80 is a fair price for a game that will be played for a decade.
• The Critics: Others fear that the success of this pricing for GTA 6 will give other companies "carte blanche" to raise their prices to the $80 mark for lower-quality games, making the hobby increasingly inaccessible.
